My attic (house built in 1981) was insulated about 12 years ago with approximately 20cm (8 inches) of blown-in cellulose insulation. It has improved conditions on the top floor in winter, but I think it could be better. In summer, it can still get very hot.
What are your thoughts on adding extra insulation between the roof joists? There is about 15cm (6 inches) of space available there. What type of insulation would you recommend, and what about a vapor barrier? Is one necessary?
Thank you very much for the information.
