Hello,

We are currently planning the spotlights in the bathroom. Now the question arises about the distance at which the spotlights above the washbasin (50cm (20 inches) depth) should be installed from the wall to ensure good lighting without casting a shadow of one’s own head.

Good luck

With spotlights, shadows often occur even when they are placed close together. In the bathroom, I would rather install a surface-mounted light or LED panel. However, it is also possible to install a light on the mirror cabinet that illuminates the area below.

The higher the ceiling, the greater the possible distance. I would avoid direct glare in a straight line of sight to the mirror – you can try this with a flashlight on a stick with a partner to get a feel for it.

Even more important than the distance are the beam angles, uniformity, and light color. Use 120° beam angle with frosted glass in 2700K or 3000K models.
