Hello,
We moved into our newly built house two months ago, and from the very beginning, I noticed the following issue:
At various times during the day and night, I hear a dripping sound in the bathroom coming from the area around the upper wall/ceiling in one particular corner. Sometimes it also sounds a bit like cracking. The noise varies in volume and frequency and, as mentioned, occurs irregularly throughout the day. I have definitely identified it as dripping because it sometimes happens quickly one after another and even makes gurgling sounds. Mainly, though, I hear the sound about every 20 seconds when it occurs (which is several times a day).
About a month ago, I called the plumbing specialist who installed the pipes. He listened and then turned on the water upstairs. You could clearly hear the water flowing inside the wall of the bathroom (on the ground floor). He said the noises were normal and that he could hardly hear them (he said something like, "I have to turn up my hearing aid..."). He also mentioned that quiet pipes were installed and seemed somewhat surprised but wanted to dismiss the issue quickly. He said the wall has double drywall and that these noises are normal. He told me to report back only if I noticed any wet spots. Really great service!
My questions are: What could cause such a noise? Were there any mistakes made during construction? Can a sound like this really be normal? What options do I have to ensure this problem gets fixed?
Best regards
