Good morning,

We are planning to start soon. Right now, I feel completely overwhelmed! How did you get involved in this topic? Trusting consultants blindly is definitely not an option for us.

Are there any books or websites you would recommend reading?

Many thanks in advance

Read a lot; forums are a good place for that.
Either push through the topics energetically or just follow the latest posts over a longer period. After two years of browsing forums, you’ll have picked up quite a bit and will have a solid understanding of the technical aspects and the various options available.

A very good investment for us has been the "RWE Construction Manual." It is extensive and sometimes more suited for professionals, but you can find detailed explanations for every keyword.

Read forums and, for specific topics related to certain trades, search more precisely using Google or within the forum and ask questions. Also, consult acquaintances who have already gone through the building process. When I think about everything I didn’t know two years ago compared to now, it’s quite remarkable!

Listen to the opinions of consultants, but still do your own research. I have learned never to trust anyone blindly… This doesn’t mean that everyone gave bad advice, but I always felt more confident when I informed myself thoroughly!

"Identifying Construction Defects and Building Damage and Successfully Making Claims."

A very good book title, in my opinion. Available on Amazon, bol, etc.

Thank you for your responses. I have now selected two books, but in addition, I found a file online (at least at first glance).
