Hello, we have now received a quote from a general contractor for our planned single-family house, which we actually liked.

However, a prefab house builder told us that if the house is built with solid construction, insulation should definitely be installed as well, otherwise mold problems will occur.

What do you think? KfW energy efficiency standards are not relevant in this case.

This rumor, often presented as an unshakable fact, persists stubbornly.
Have you ever soaked a piece of aerated concrete in water for several hours? If not, you should try it—you’ll be surprised.

Kind regards

The problem with Ytong in exterior applications: if the outer surface is damaged and water penetrates, the entire block swells like a sponge.
Just take a look at pallets that have been standing in puddles for a while.

Additionally, I would never connect a PPW 6 with a calcium silicate block (see door and window frames). How else do you expect to drill and anchor in such a soft material?

It seems to me that designers are moving further and further away from the basics. My advice: put on your rubber boots again and talk to the people on site. I have no idea how a full-time designer finds so much time in life? It’s like those legal specialists who also dabble in politics on the side. Better to focus on day-to-day business?

Correct, one option among many!

Best regards
