world-eHello everyone,
Today I received a quote for plastering a new timber frame building insulated with wood fiber insulation boards as an ETICS. The plasterer also recommended applying a second layer of fiberglass mesh reinforcement. My question is whether this is necessary or beneficial. It costs almost 3000€ extra. Thank you very much

I’m familiar with that too.
Wood fiber insulation boards provide good soundproofing and moisture regulation, are normally combustible, but are more expensive to buy. During installation, they should not get wet, and the installation costs are higher because, among other things, two layers of fabric-reinforced plaster are needed to achieve good results.
Otherwise, you spend a lot on the high-quality material, and the facade still ends up looking bad.
