P
parcusIn 2008, the average household spent 17 percent more on heating compared to the previous year. This information comes from the new nationwide Heating Report 2009, published by the non-profit organization co2online GmbH in cooperation with the German Tenants’ Association (DMB) on October 1st. To compile the report, co2online analyzed data from 52,000 buildings across the country. The Federal Ministry for the Environment supports the Heating Report campaign as part of its climate protection initiative.
There is likely to be a significant decrease in 2009, as the costs for heating oil and natural gas have dropped. However, this statement does not fit the perspective of tenant associations or that of energy-saving advocates. The long-term trend of rising energy costs is certain, but simply extrapolating is not appropriate.
