Hello, our microfiber sofa now has brownish stains from the kids as well.

Does anyone have any idea how to remove them?

Regular cleaning products don’t work.

I think it would be important to know what caused the stains. Of course, the children, that makes sense – but what is the "brown" substance?

Test oxygen bleach (e.g., Heitmann) on an inconspicuous area first. If the microfiber color is not affected, try it on the stains.

Brown stains from children are usually chocolate.
First, use water and dish soap, let it sit for a few minutes, then wipe over a large area with a cloth. You can also use baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) for this.
If that doesn’t work, try a high-proof clear spirit (vodka) to remove the grease.
And even if it’s not chocolate, these methods can still help.

For bodily fluids... use mild soap and water, and be patient.

Although we usually have soft water, cleaning with regular water always leaves spots around the edges. That's why we always use distilled water for cleaning. If that’s not enough, baking soda is usually our go-to home remedy.

Since our sofa suffers from an indoor-outdoor cat, we also hire a professional cleaning service every few years.
