Hello,
I am also considering installing a wallbox in the garage for the new build.
What additional costs have you encountered for this extra connection?
The garage is located right next to the utility room.
Thanks, Tom

We paid about 1,000 for an 11 kW wallbox including installation. We had the wiring preparation done during the shell construction phase. It’s hard to break down exactly since it was included in a total price for all additional electrical work, and I don’t recall the exact details. My builder isn’t very precise about that. Maybe around 200–300 euros?

However, this might not be a good reference price, as our contractors tend to be on the more affordable side.

P.S. – You only need a building permit / planning permission for wallboxes above 22 kW, not for 11 kW. This always depends on the utility provider. In my opinion, you don’t really need 22 kW anyway.

Check out mobilityhouse. They offer affordable and good quality wall boxes and provide a lot of information in their Knowledge Center. A colleague ordered from them and received good advice over the phone. We have an 11kW wall box; no building permit or registration was required. Just call your electricity provider. Be aware that depending on the wall box, you may need a Type A EV or Type B residual current device (RCD); a standard Type A RCD is not sufficient.

Alternatively, you can have just one CEE outlet installed and use a mobile charging station. This way, 22 kW charging would be possible without requiring a building permit / planning permission.

That’s why a professional should do this, not a layperson. They know which RCD is necessary.

Why always do something like that nonsense?
Have a professional install an 11kW wallbox, register it, and that’s it.
These DIY makeshift solutions are the true nightmare for every fire insurance...

Huh? Why do you call it a makeshift solution?? Do you understand what this is about? CEE adapters are completely standard solutions. And an electrician can install a CEE socket in the garage. What exactly is makeshift about that?
