Hello
Are there any experiences by now with aluminum decking boards?
Our wooden terrace (thermo spruce, uncovered, exposed to snow and frost in winter) unfortunately needs to be replaced after 13 years, and I am looking for alternatives—not WPC.
I have read about aluminum boards or epoxy.
Maybe someone has experience with these already; I only found one post from 2019.
I would be very grateful for any tips.
Thank you

What the heck is Thermo Spruce?
Spruce wood that has undergone thermal treatment. Although the guarantees for thermally modified wood usually last far longer than 13 years...

But being maintenance-free under full exposure to weather is certainly not one of those promises.

At prices of about 350 to 700€ per square meter, you’re unlikely to find many user experiences. It’s absolute luxury. There are few advantages over wood—mainly lower maintenance. I would also question the CO2 footprint of aluminum.

And if thermo wood is already deteriorating after 13 years, I wonder whether the construction was done properly and if the maintenance was adequate. No criticism towards you, but after 13 years, the terrace should be fine except for some graying.

I would also say that the slope is probably incorrect. Standing water causes wood to rot quickly, whereas wood that dries quickly can last a very long time.

Is everything equally damaged, or is only a certain area particularly affected?

What does the substructure look like?
