MaxMustaman9228 Sep 2021 08:12Hello,
We are considering having photovoltaic panels installed on our house by a company through a rental agreement. Instead of purchasing a solar system outright (which would require a substantial initial investment), the company offers the option to rent the solar panels on a monthly basis. The company takes full responsibility over the next 20 years for installation, maintenance, repairs, and eventual removal of the system.
The offer includes:
- eighteen 370 W high-performance solar panels producing 6,154 kWh (757 kWh self-consumption, 5,397 kWh feed-in)
- one inverter
- one smart electricity meter
- option to purchase the system after 20 years
Costs: €76 monthly, increasing to €91 from the 25th month onward.
We are close to making a decision, especially since mandatory solar system installation for homeowners is likely to be introduced soon.
Do you have any advice, comments, concerns, or experiences to share before we sign the contract?

A mandate for homeowners to install solar panels is expected.More likely for new constructions rather than existing homeowners. So don’t let yourself be pressured.
Are the 91 € fixed? Or will they increase? Take a close look at that.
Trend:
It’s better to invest 10k yourself than to pay others in the long run; the company is not going to operate as a non-profit.

Depending on the state or region, it currently applies only to commercial or new residential buildings. Since your house is already built, you probably wouldn’t be affected.
If you really want to have a system like that, get a quote for purchasing one and finance it with a loan. That should be significantly more cost-effective.

I probably have a misunderstanding, but at 31.89 cents*757 kWh*20 years = €4,885 (after 20 years of normal personal consumption)
With a solar system, let's say 91€*12 months*20 = €21,840
Difference (additional costs) = €16,955
5,397 kWh feed-in = about €380 per year
I'm currently confused: Why should I even get such a system right now?
