Bauherr am L20 May 2021 12:32Hello everyone,
We are now working on the landscaping. We want to use corten steel instead of lawn edging stones. However, there are now thousands of suppliers and formats available.
Does anyone have experience with corten steel as lawn edging, especially for the perimeter splash guard / gravel strip around the house? The material thickness (ranging from 1 to 6 mm (0.04 to 0.24 inches)) is a big question mark for us.
One supplier that was recommended to us is Gartenmetall. I have also come across Göttefunke...
Thanks!

Myrna_Loy20 May 2021 13:01In areas in contact with the ground, anything under 4 mm (0.16 inches) rusts quickly. For gravel fill, it is better to choose dark stones, as white ones tend to discolor quite quickly. Although corten steel is considered durable, the stable rust patina only forms reliably under ideal conditions—meaning practically never.

Does anyone here have experience with corten steel as an edging for lawns,I don’t. But I also don’t see why I would prepare a barely visible strip like that. It needs a larger area to have an effect.B

It’s definitely easier (and lighter) to install,Not really. I’ve used both before. Although not made from corten steel, but the "budget version." Corten steel is just too expensive for me in this case.M
Myrna_Loy20 May 2021 16:23Corten steel also performs better long-term when installed in a concrete base.
