ᐅ Height of Tiled Walls in Bathrooms: 1.2 m or 1.5 m?

Hello everyone,

A basic question:
We can have tiles up to 1.4m (4.5 feet) high in the bathroom (included in the house price). However, we have planned to use 30 x 60cm (12 x 24 inches) tiles. Now, we could go with 1.2m (4 x 30cm / 4 x 12 inches) or 1.5m (5 x 30cm / 5 x 12 inches).

The tiler would prefer 1.5m (4.9 feet), but the tile supplier said 1.2m (3.9 feet) would look better.

This concerns the guest shower and bathroom. (Walk-in showers without a step will be fully tiled up to the ceiling.)

What are your suggestions?

I understand that, clearly.

I have a tiled windowsill in the guest bathroom, which you wouldn’t find in a butcher’s shop...
I’ll go and take a picture...

This is the "Swimming Pool" model. Since I really enjoy swimming and have fond memories of our green-tiled swimming pool, I think it’s great.

I wouldn't care about that.

Then it fits well with the butcher shop.
I come from a family of butchers and can understand the association well, although I don’t share it myself, even though my bathroom is tiled in white – just not all the way up to the ceiling. I wouldn’t want to miss the tiled windowsill anymore – in everyday life, I hardly notice it, but when cleaning, it always makes me happy.

You are really easy to please.
I find keeping grout clean more tedious than a painted board or stone slab.

That might also depend on the water hardness, whether one sees it the other way around.

Uh, how do you even mess up a bathroom windowsill? "Keeping it clean" just means dusting off the accumulated dust once a week. Otherwise, it’s a matter of personal preference.
