ᐅ Where is the best place to buy designer lighting? Does anyone have any experience?

Good evening everyone.
I'm back, well-rested from our summer vacation. The weather was great, the food was great, and the hotel was great.
In a restaurant, I noticed a really stylish lamp on the wall. Even my wife was convinced by it, which says a lot. We would also like to get a designer lamp like that, preferably for the dining room.
Does anyone have experience with any kind of designer lighting? Where could you buy something like that, and where would you place a lamp like this at home? It should, of course, be a bit of an eye-catcher.
Looking forward to your responses.

That’s kind of freaky – you know that, right? On my phone, I mostly have pictures of family, friends, and the garden. That’s not freaky. My phone is my notebook. I photograph everything I want to remember or that relates to photographic art. This also includes interior design – you just have different interests...

That is not freaky.Yes, it definitely is!I would just keep your eyes open. Keep looking out for it in trendy restaurants, casually visit the lobbies of design hotels, maybe buy a few design magazines, or even browse through some awards in the design field.
Maybe you’ll find something that suits your style. If you see something, ask about it right away—even if you don’t find the exact same lights, stores can show you lighting fixtures in a similar style.
I’m not entirely sure what is meant by “playing with the light.” It can range from app-controlled lighting to simple on-and-off switches like Holy Trinity Lights. In my opinion, you can also play with light just by pressing a switch. In this context, playing doesn’t necessarily mean you always have to change the settings.

Going there and aiming towards the ceiling has always worked for me so far... I have many pictures of lights from restaurants and hotels on my phone.
However, you should definitely make a distinction between hotels and your own home.
In every larger city, there is usually a big lighting store with a wide range of displays, including various design styles in every category. You could take a look there. Since your profile doesn’t mention your location, it’s hard to help you with that. Oh, then I really should have taken some photos instead of thinking it was awkward to shoot pictures in the middle of it. Next time, I’ll just snap a photo.
Maybe you even have some nice fixtures you'd like to share with us? That would be a good inspiration for me.
Yes, I will look for such lighting stores. But I would actually prefer something a bit more “curated” (not some huge IKEA-style place), where people don’t all end up buying the same LED light.

As for what people mean by “playing with light,” it’s not entirely clear to me either. It can range from app-controlled lighting to simple on-and-off switches like with Holy Trinity lights. In my opinion, you can also “play” with light just by flipping a switch. In this context, playing doesn’t necessarily mean you have to constantly change settings. Yes, I will. On vacation, you naturally have your eyes more open, and little gems like these catch your attention easily. Here, everything has to be done quickly, and there’s hardly time to look left and right and stroll through alleys comfortably. I guess I should bring a bit of that holiday feeling back home.
Well, by “playing” I meant being able to adjust the light a bit—not just turning it on and off, but also changing the beam angle, brightness, etc. I suppose everyone has their own understanding of that. But thanks again for the tips!
Thank you, I actually like the red light, but it’s not really what we’re looking for. We prefer a complete fixture that is simpler overall, yet still striking. So rather in colors like white, black, silver,... those kinds of tones. I’m still browsing through some (online) magazines. There’s plenty of inspiration to be found, thanks to the internet.
