ᐅ Is the plot of land too expensive for your overall budget?

Hello everyone!

I just registered because my husband and I are moving back to beautiful Lower Saxony from the Stuttgart area and are planning to build a house.
We have found a plot of land that we really like. This plot costs about 120,000€ (approximately $130,000). We have been thinking that our finished house, including all ancillary building costs, notary fees, the land, property transfer tax, and everything else involved, shouldn’t cost much more than 500,000€ (about $545,000). This would leave us some room for interior design like the bathroom, kitchen, flooring, and so on. Is this a realistic plan, or would it be wiser to look for a smaller plot?
This is all completely new to us, so I would really appreciate any helpful advice!
Best regards

Don’t get me wrong, I understand that this is certainly not the most attractive area of Germany in terms of infrastructure, but I’m really wondering where you’re getting your information from.

Federal Statistical Office. And sorry, 34€... that really is a structurally weak region.

And what exactly should you look for at the Federal Statistical Office? This is not a complete district here.
I think we have different definitions of structurally weak. Several companies operating internationally and an unemployment rate of about 3.5% does not seem structurally weak to me. And if I compare this, for example, with the region in eastern Germany where my husband comes from, then definitely not.

It’s part of my extended sales region.
And if you don’t live in a town there, you’re really in the countryside. It’s not close enough to Koblenz, Bonn, or Frankfurt. What towns are there? Limburg, Weilburg, Wetzlar, Gießen. Sure, there is some development, but in between you have nice countryside with poor transport connections.

Wetzlar, Gießen, Marburg, Siegen. All within about 30–45 minutes reachable.
It is true that transport connections could be better, but on the other hand, nobody here wants a highway running through... There was once an option for it, and everyone was relieved when the authorities chose a more northern route.

45 minutes driving each way if you want to buy something? I’ll leave that area to others...
