ansgarm748 Jan 2011 14:15Hello,
is it structurally possible to build a modern new house with a partial basement? Or will the part of the house without a basement settle more than the part with a basement? If so, is this more cost-effective than a full basement?
We are building a house using timber frame construction.

6Richtige8 Jan 2011 15:54Hello Ansgar,
to prevent the ground slab from settling unevenly, work must be done especially carefully and meticulously, which makes construction more expensive.
A half-basement will therefore only be 10 to 15% cheaper than a full basement.

Bauexperte9 Jan 2011 15:53Hello,
What is the reasoning behind choosing a partial basement? In our experience, it is almost always more cost-effective to create a single-story solution, for example, a larger utility room or a garage measuring 3 x 9 meters (10 x 30 feet) with an integrated storage area.
Kind regards
