Hello everyone,

What is the maximum size allowed for a garden shed that I can place on my property in Baden-Württemberg without a building permit? Am I only allowed to install it within the designated building area? And how does this apply to easement areas?

What do the terms “interior area” and “exterior area” mean according to the state building regulations?

Baden-Württemberg
State Building Code for Baden-Württemberg.

Ҥ 50 Permit-exempt projects:
Buildings without living spaces, toilets, or fireplaces, provided they are neither used for sales nor exhibition purposes, with a gross volume of up to 40 m³ (1,412 ft³) in the interior area, and up to 20 m³ (706 ft³) in the exterior area.”

Just call your local municipality; there is surely someone who can provide a detailed list of everything.

In general terms: inside a municipality and outside a municipality.
