Hello!

I am planning to buy a plot of land in a municipality. The following people know about this:
- me^^
- my parents
- my partner
- the municipality
- the notary

Now I have received a very detailed email in German and English from a woman abroad claiming to be the previous owner of the property I am acquiring from the municipality. As proof, she sent her identity card and several photos of the property.

The first step in this scheme is that I am supposed to send a copy of my identity card.

My question:

Does this sound familiar to you? If so, where could the scammer have obtained such detailed information?

Thanks & best regards

Nothing, what would they do with a foreign sender IP, probably through a TOR network... I might as well save my time.

If an individual is not even willing to "waste" 20 minutes of their time, what can they expect?
Eventually, there will be a lot of complaints when the authorities don’t take action – but how should they, if even the average person keeps the offense statistics artificially low?

Oh, come on...

I run several websites and therefore unfortunately have to report various incidents to the authorities (hate speech against foreigners). Even in cases that are easy to prove and investigate, the proceedings are dismissed in a very short time due to lack of public interest.

By now, I have come across several documented attempts related to this fraud scheme online.

From a technical perspective, prosecution is not possible here anyway.

Then the operator should be able to expect that you understand the purpose of forum rules and comply with them.

I have removed your links in accordance with the forum rules.

Hey, what kind of forum rules are these?

Oh, which rules did that violate? I didn’t see anything relevant when I skimmed through.

Where can I find a private message function in the forum? I would have liked to ask you outside of the thread.

Links are not allowed! However, there is a private message function, which is then called conversation.
