The most important thing for me in a contract is assuming that the other party is reasonable and that I can get along with them. I cannot assess how compatible you are with the architect. While a good gut feeling is not a reliable safeguard, a bad gut feeling is a helpful indicator to step back—no matter what the contract says. So: trust your instincts, dear homeowners.

If you want to keep the option of a general contractor turnkey build open, or if you want the possibility to get rid of the architect, then limit the scope to phases 1-4 and do more only if it then fits...

k-man202115 Jul 2021 20:52There is no proper description of the architect’s services and responsibilities there... try searching for standard architect contracts or architectural agreements for buildings, as there are good templates available.
