ᐅ Which heating technology is best for noise-sensitive people?

*Warning, a silly question*
I have no knowledge of heating technology, but there is one thing that is important to me: the heating system must not produce any disturbing noises (and I am easily disturbed, for example by humming, buzzing, or similar sounds). It would not be installed in the basement, but on the living floor.
Are there types of heating systems that tend to be problematic in this regard?

We have gas! On the ground floor! Separated from the open living area by just a room door! We don’t hear it!

to add: we definitely don’t hear it in the open living area – but in the utility room, where it is located, certainly 😉

Thank you!
So, a heat pump would generally be better than, for example, gas, but gas can also be quiet, and not every heat pump is automatically quiet? Got it! 😉

I visited a show home by Viebrockhaus that had a heat pump without an outdoor unit. I actually couldn’t hear the heat pump, except in the utility room, and even there it was very quiet. But usually you notice these noises much more when you’re alone, not when someone is standing next to you asking expectantly, “So? Can you hear anything?” 😀

Not all sounds are equally bothersome. Strangely, I find the noise of a dishwasher calming, but a loud refrigerator annoys me (I once had one that I could hear through a closed door from 10 meters (33 feet) away). So I’m not even sure yet whether heating noise would bother me at all, but if it does, it would bother me a lot. I’m not very good at tuning that kind of noise out.

Depending on the season, it’s quite possible that the heating from Viebrockhaus was switched off 😀

I wouldn’t rule that out, even though it was only a few days ago and it had snowed the day before.

The heating appliance room and the door must be well constructed and soundproofed, then you won’t hear anything, regardless of what is inside...

To be fair, Viebrockhaus does ensure that the utility rooms are arranged in a reasonably practical way.
