Hello dear forum members,

In the distant future, I am planning to build a single-family house and am already gathering information about the many aspects that need to be considered when building a house. I would like to draw some designs of my house myself, and I wanted to ask you what you think about commercial home design software, such as those from Concadus GmbH or Cadvilla?

Is it worth buying such software for around 70 euros (about $75) as a private builder to start planning and visualizing your own house, or is it a waste of money?

Of course, I understand that I can’t replace an architect with software, but you can still do the initial planning yourself, right?

Hello Jeti79,
I would download and install the test software directly from the manufacturer’s website. If you encounter any issues during the process, please contact the manufacturer’s customer support.

Good luck, Bernhard

Good morning.

That was, of course, my first point of contact. However, you have to register there with all your personal information. You can probably guess where that leads.

I have now downloaded Sweet Home 3D. It works very well.

Best regards,
Jens

Why don’t you find a freelancer who can do this for you at a low cost?
I found a German-speaking freelancer in South America, paid 120 euros, was able to communicate with him via Skype to clearly explain all my requirements, received numerous photos from different perspectives by email, and in the end, I even got the DXF file that my architect can later edit if needed (if any further editing is necessary). There was also an initial cost estimate included.
Really excellent work.
So, before I spend 50 or 70 euros on a program I still have to learn, I’d rather pay a bit more upfront and have peace of mind.

Best regards

Maik
