Hello dear forum members,

In the distant future, I am planning to build a single-family house and am already gathering information about the many aspects that need to be considered when building a house. I would like to draw some designs of my house myself, and I wanted to ask you what you think about commercial home design software, such as those from Concadus GmbH or Cadvilla?

Is it worth buying such software for around 70 euros (about $75) as a private builder to start planning and visualizing your own house, or is it a waste of money?

Of course, I understand that I can’t replace an architect with software, but you can still do the initial planning yourself, right?

Hello

First, I would ask myself if I have the skills to design something on my own,
and then consider the question of the right tools to use.

Save yourselves the trouble. It’s not that easy to achieve something with such software, at least not within a reasonable amount of time. If you really want to think things through in advance, just use graph paper with a pencil and eraser. That is much more efficient...

Home Design as an app. Available as a free version and as a Gold Edition for around €5.

If you are still studying, you can download Revit (AutoCAD) for free. It takes a while to get the hang of it, but it is definitely worth it... Knowing CAD is never a disadvantage.
And even if you only use it for experimentation in the end.

Hello, I found Sweet Home 3D quite helpful for getting started, and it’s free of charge.
