Hello,

we had terrace slabs from a tile specialist store delivered to our home for sampling, selected a color, and placed an order.
The slabs were delivered and checked by us (the name of the sample slab was compared with the name on the packaging of the delivered slabs).
After installing about three-quarters of the slabs (bonded installation), it seemed to us that the slabs are somewhat lighter than the ones we selected.
We contacted the tile specialist store and went there with one of our slabs for comparison. The result was that the delivered slabs are the wrong ones.
The color we chose and ordered was Cream, but a different color was delivered, even though the packaging of the delivered slabs says Cream.

Unfortunately, we only noticed this so late.

Do we now have to accept this as is, or is the tile specialist store/manufacturer obliged to cover the costs of removal and re-delivery of the correct slabs? The defect clearly lies with the manufacturer; if the correct name had been on the packaging, we would have noticed it earlier.

Not knowing how large the difference is—off the cuff, I would say “it can’t be that much, otherwise it would have been noticed sooner”—the first question for me is clarification:

- Did the manufacturer package or label the product incorrectly?
- Was the sample mislabeled?
- Does the manufacturer specify a color tolerance?
- What type of boards are we specifically talking about?

I ask because we also distribute products “with color,” where such questions occasionally arise—in those cases, I always ask if a defined RAL color code was provided. No? Well, there you go...

For example, with our boards in the conservatory, it was clearly noted at the time that color variations might occur—within one batch it matches, but different batches can vary slightly.

According to the tile specialist store, the manufacturer must have mislabeled the products. There are only two possibilities: either the manufacturer labeled them incorrectly, or the tile specialist store mislabeled the terrace slabs and therefore ordered the wrong ones.

These are terrace slabs with a thickness of 2cm (0.8 inches) – or do you mean the exact designation of the terrace slabs?

Since the slabs were labeled correctly, we didn’t suspect they were the wrong ones. We only noticed once an area was installed. We had several slabs on site for sampling, so we weren’t sure anymore if the slabs were really wrong.

Only when we placed the slabs side by side at the tile specialist store was it clear.

There is definitely a color difference, it’s not a batch issue.

Please upload photos of both panels. Is the color difference really that noticeable?

You didn’t order the panels yourselves, right? The company installing them should be responsible. Submit a written notice of defect.

We ordered the tiles ourselves from the tile specialist store.
On the left in the picture is what we ordered, on the right what we received.

Unfortunately, the time has expired. Please ignore the part of the response "You didn’t order the panels yourselves, right? The company installing them is responsible for that."
