The scope of services from our general contractor states the following:
Interior finishing:
The living room walls will be finished with machine-applied gypsum plaster or, in wet rooms, with lime-cement plaster or skim coat..... The surface quality corresponds to quality level 2.

Wall coverings:
The entire living area, except for the separately specified rooms (kitchen, bathroom, toilet), will receive a woodchip wallpaper according to the sample template with a dispersion-based paint, white or lightly tinted.

If we do not want wallpaper but instead simply nicely white plastered walls and ceilings (which I believe is currently the standard), what should I ask to have offered? To remove the wall coverings from the offer and instead have plastered walls and ceilings finished at Q3 or Q4 level and then painted white?

Another question: if I wanted to have this done by a different provider, should I completely remove the Q2 plaster from the scope? Or is a Q3 or Q4 plaster finish applied over the existing Q2 plaster?

We paid an extra charge for Q3 skim coating, around 7,000 euros, and I am currently priming and painting the walls. It looks great.

You should ask the general contractor about that.

Paint fleece, Q3 plaster finish, and then lightly tinted, ceilings white. That’s how we have it. Q3 is more than sufficient. After 9 months, we have never regretted it; stains can be easily removed by gently rubbing with a magic eraser.

Ok, thanks for the answers. I will ask at some point what the additional cost would be.
