What Do You Like Most? Why? Side driveway to garage, direct access from garage to house, separate apartment concept, open ground floor design, upper floor is perfect in our opinion, gallery
What Do You Like Least? Why? Living/dining area is somewhat too large (wife worries it may be hard to arrange cozily), bedroom window position in the separate apartment is tricky, (north entrance → long access route for guests)

The children's room on the upper floor was adjusted, and the bathroom window on the ground floor was slightly moved.
Today, we also learned that the structural engineer requires a steel support column in the garage. It is now positioned exactly in the center. The alternative would have been a beam, which, however, would have been 40cm (16 inches) deep and would have reduced the clear height below 2 meters (6 ft 7 in) at that spot. Unfortunately, it is not ideal, but there seems to be no other solution.

Unfortunately not ideal, but it seems there is no other solution. Oops, I completely missed that. I would prefer a beam instead: rotated 90°, and then single gates.

We are currently planning the laundry chute. Unfortunately, this is proving to be a bit tricky. The locations on the ground floor and upper floor are not ideal. Do you have any suggestions?
Additionally, we learned today that the lintel above the garage door needs to be enlarged due to structural requirements, which means the garage door’s height will be reduced. New height is 2145 mm (84.4 inches). This is not a critical issue for us at the moment—or have we overlooked something?

On the first floor, that’s the price of aesthetics (the offset); on the ground floor, I don’t see a problem — simply because I would align the pipe enclosures flush with the waste chute in both floors, meaning the toilet bowl along with its concealed cistern would move forward by that 10 cm (4 inches) difference.

I’ll throw in my controversial suggestion again to switch to single garage doors — then the lintel doesn’t have to span as far unsupported and might be able to have a slimmer construction height.
