Hello.
I have a big problem: I probably have woodworms in my house.
How can I treat them privately at home without involving other companies? (If there is no other option, I would also appreciate recommendations for companies.)

I have heard that acorns can be used as bait, or that poison can be injected into the wood with syringes.

Where can I buy professional insecticide for these pests?

If someone wants to suggest heat treatment:
The problem with heat treatment is that the living room, up to the infested beams, is about 10 meters (33 feet) high, so filling the space with steam or other methods is realistically not feasible.

I didn’t find a more suitable section in the forum...

Good morning Duffcola,

In your situation, I would recommend finding a local expert in wood and wood pests and hiring them to determine if you have an infestation, what type of wood pest it is, and the extent of the affected area. You cannot effectively treat the problem without knowing the “enemy.” This expert can also advise you on how to control the wood pest.

Many wood pests thrive in wood with moisture levels that should not be present in a living space. It could therefore be an old infestation with inactive pests, or the beams might be getting damp from the roof, which would also need to be addressed.

When researching “heat treatment,” you will find that entire roof structures can be heat-treated, and this is probably the most effective method—one that you certainly cannot carry out yourself.

I would never recommend using poison inside a living area. Poisons cannot be targeted at a specific organism and usually harm all living beings. I would not even use poison in an unoccupied roof space, let alone in living or sleeping rooms.

Based solely on information found online and without professional guidance, I strongly advise against trying to solve this problem on your own—you risk causing more damage than you save (in Swabian saying: saving money in the wrong place).

Best of luck!

Hello!
To combat woodworm, you can only effectively use a strong chemical treatment. The 'Xylamon Woodworm Killer' works best, but you need to order it specially from a professional supplier because it is not usually kept in stock. Apply it several times to the affected areas or inject it into the visible boreholes. Don’t forget to wear an appropriate mask, as it is a very aggressive substance.
All other treatments have insufficient effect; we have had very good results with this product for some customers.

I don’t think applying it indoors is a good idea!
