My wife would like to clad parts of the facade with wood. Specifically, with battens spaced about 1–1.5 cm (0.4–0.6 inches) apart mounted on the facade.
Does anyone know what this is called? Are there any long-term experiences with this type of cladding? I imagine it might be problematic in terms of dirt and insects, as it would be quite difficult to clean between the gaps, right?

Thanks,
Sebastian

Wood facade or partial wood facade is the correct term.

The key factor is not to save on the material. Spruce or fir will not look very attractive after a short time; Douglas fir is the better choice.

Hello,

specifically, this concerns our new build; the exterior walls are made of Poroton T8 with a thickness of 42.5cm (17 inches), and the whole will be plastered as well.
We have a bay window approximately 3.4m (11 feet) wide and 0.9m (3 feet) deep, which my wife would like to clad.
It would probably make sense to make the substructure out of aluminum from the start, right?

I will inquire with the carpentry shop then, thank you.

Hi,

I am also interested in partial cladding with wood on a Poroton house with about a 16cm (6 inch) insulation layer and plaster.

How is this exactly constructed?
What needs to be planned during the shell construction phase?
What is the approximate cost (per m²)?

Thanks in advance
