We are considering renovating a beautiful villa from the 1940s. We are thinking more along the lines of a complete refurbishment—essentially everything renewed. Not because the condition is particularly poor, but naturally, nothing from the heating system to the windows and insulation is still "state of the art." Instead of focusing on small rooms, we are thinking more about removing walls and creating a tasteful blend of "historic charm" and modern design.

– Is such a comprehensive renovation with significant changes to the floor plan feasible and reasonably economical to carry out?
What kind of budget range should we expect?

– Has anyone here had experience with a similar project?

– Does anyone have recommendations for reliable architects, building consultants, or construction companies with extensive experience, expertise, and attention to detail in this type of full renovation?
