Hello,
We have installed a camera and will be adding more in the future.
Although ours has Wi-Fi, I connected it using a LAN cable. For me, security and transmission quality were the top priorities.
We mounted it under the eaves. The electrician ran LAN cables and 230V power to the attic.
The system is connected to my Synology NAS, allowing me to access it from anywhere in the world. Additionally, the camera can rotate 355 degrees and tilt to a certain extent. This lets me control the camera remotely through the app, including panning, tilting, and zooming.

Andreas191916 Oct 2019 14:05@gmt94 Would you be willing to share how you set up your Synology for worldwide access? Are you using QuickConnect?
@Kevinius Currently, 6 cameras are planned. All connected via PoE, so only one cable is needed. It works perfectly as a test within the local network. Worldwide access is not set up yet, as the house is not finished.

I also believe that a wired connection is always more reliable.
Isn’t the viewing angle from the soffit rather “suboptimal”?
Wouldn’t a lower position, for example at the ceiling height of the ground floor, be better?
I’m going to install 230V and LAN cables, so that should cover everything, right?
Although most cameras nowadays probably support POE.
What cameras do you have, and are you satisfied with them?
