Dear building professionals,
The wall connection of my cold conservatory is leaking in several places. Water is dripping inside onto the wall. In the photo, you can see that I have already added a sealing tape (black) to the silicone joint between the conservatory and the house wall. Could the cuts in the lip seal at the crossbars be the cause? It is visible that the seal does not properly rest against the glass there. Can water penetrate through wind and capillary action at these points? How can I fix this? Would a cover strip still be useful? However, for example, I would need to use thermal insulation anchors for the polystyrene insulation. Would that help? At the moment, I rather think the lip seal is the cause. Should this lip seal be completely replaced without cuts? I have already received an initial indication that the cuts and gaps in the lip seal are suspicious. How is this supposed to be installed correctly, that is, how can it seal tightly against the glass?

First, apply water only up to the bitumen or sealing tape.
Then, run water fully over it.
Option two: hire a professional who will either properly seal it for you or leave immediately if they see the black adhesive tape.
I only know sealing lips without cuts, which fit tightly and never align with the cuts you have.

Allthewayup30 Oct 2025 22:12Which manufacturer made the canopy? Since when has it been leaking, and how long has the canopy been installed? Could you take some photos of the water stains beneath the canopy and of the wall profile or its connection joint? This joint is usually made of silicone and is known as a maintenance joint.
