ᐅ Windows and window handles vary partially in the new build.

bene1981Hello,
we have been living in the new house for a few weeks now, and from time to time, I notice things that make me want to ask questions. Like these two:
1. Throughout the house, the windows are generally wooden and have a consistent color and style. However, there is a difference on the top floor: there is only one window that matches the rest of the design on the ground floor and first floor. Another window and a door leading to the roof terrace look completely different.
2. Apart from the two windows mentioned above, all window handles in the house are identical. Yet here, too, there are two windows with different handles installed.
Is this normal? Is it allowed to have such different fittings in a newly built house?
Regards,
Bene

What does the contract say? Or did you buy the house only in its finished condition (as seen)? Generally, this is not the usual practice, but of course, it can be planned that way. There is no legal obligation for all windows to be "identical." They just need to comply with what was contractually agreed upon. In this case, I think it would have to be explicitly stated somewhere that the windows are to be made differently. The handles can usually be replaced quite easily, so that shouldn’t really be a problem.
In what way do the windows differ?

The contract does not specify anything; only the building description states that wooden windows with certain features (burglar resistance, insulation, and soundproofing) will be installed according to the color concept.
The shape of the windows differs in that the usual windows are more traditional, country house style, stained brown, and with muntins. The two windows that stand out are more modern, painted gray, and without muntins.
I will simply add this to the list of defects. Let’s see what kind of response I get.

Attic: how is that being used?
For example, our double casement window looks different from all the other windows 😉
It’s hard to say anything without an explanation.
I’m curious to see what kind of justification you will get.
However, I’m surprised that something like this wasn’t noticed before the final inspection.
