ᐅ Window sills: with or without drip groove?

Hello everyone,

I want to order granite sills. I have a brick facade with beige ceramic bricks.

Question about the drip groove on both sides, there will be a drip edge:

Is it practical or not?

The disadvantage I have understood so far:
aesthetic

The stonemason will do it for me free of charge.

Thanks

I would skip the grooves – I don’t see any functional advantage compared to a simple drip edge and find the appearance less appealing.

So what are they for then?

To drain water, especially when wind would otherwise push it against the edge (in the angle between the windowsill and the reveal).

Thank you for the responses....

It makes sense to me now = I will go ahead with it, even if it means making some compromises on the appearance.

These are truly remarkable grooves that can stop wind-driven water!
