Hello everyone,
we are now about to install the windows… As far as I know, the window reveal must always be filled before installation. This has been done everywhere, but as a layperson, I’m not sure if this is correct..? My site manager tends to agree with everything and so does not have much expertise (a request for a replacement has been made).

From the picture, it can be seen that this was done only with cement mortar.
The exterior wall structure is: 1cm (0.4 inches) plaster (interior), 17.5cm (7 inches) Poroton brick, 16.0cm (6.3 inches) insulation, 1.5cm (0.6 inches) plaster (exterior).

Friends who have recently built their homes say that a smoothing coat must still be applied. Is that true, or would this work as it is (see picture) to ensure airtightness?

This is absolutely nonsense and has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with DIN-compliant preparation for window installation. As you, OP, have already mentioned, a smooth, even surface must be created so that the compression tape and airtight tape can seal properly.

So the window installer says... it's OK. Still, as a layperson, I am a bit worried^^

So, I consulted with the structural builder, site manager, and window installer. All three say it’s okay... Well then... three opinions on site, what could I possibly argue against now?

Definitely take lots of photos during the installation and, if needed, post them here again.

Have you addressed the smoothing layer?

Oh dear, I know that from our build—everyone involved said it was okay too. In the end, it turned out badly, and none of them were reachable or interested anymore.

It shouldn’t be like that.

This morning, I deliberately noticed that all three shell constructions in our nearby neighborhood had a smooth finish applied.
