Dear forum members,

We are planning to replace old windows with new ones!

Here are a few questions:

- Are there online shops offering windows with a minimum resistance class of RC3 (WK3)?
- Are there windows with an even higher resistance class, such as RC4, RC5, or RC6, available at prices affordable for the average consumer?
- Which manufacturers produce good quality and reasonably priced windows with resistance class RC3?
- For the best possible burglary protection, would you choose wood, wood-aluminum, or uPVC windows?
Please answer this last question solely based on security aspects, not personal or aesthetic preferences.
- Can you recommend any good and affordable companies that meet the criteria above? (We understand that RC3 windows are not inexpensive!)

Thank you very much!

In general, I would say that there is no significant difference between uPVC, wood, or wood-aluminum windows. If the window has been tested according to the respective resistance class, then it is equally secure.

In my experience, it is easier to accommodate the appropriate strike plates and locking mechanisms in uPVC windows, which has a positive impact on the price.

I doubt you will find an online shop offering higher resistance classes. Not every dealer is authorized to sell burglar-resistant windows. WK3 is often the highest resistance class available here.

However, my personal assessment is that a WK2 window with appropriate glazing provides a considerable improvement in security for residential use.

If you are interested, I can send you some information (possibly including a quote) for a window that offers very good value for money in this regard.
