Hello, currently I am having the windows replaced in our single-family house (built in 1980). The installation is being done according to “RAL installation” standards. Old wooden windows are removed and new plastic (PVC) windows are installed. I have two questions – also considering that this is my first time witnessing a window replacement “live” and I don’t fully trust the craftsmen.
1. After two windows have been replaced, I notice that the new windows do not line up flush with the interior window sill. There is a gap of about 0.5 – 1 cm (0.2 – 0.4 inches). Is this “normal” and can this simply be sealed with silicone or acrylic?
2. The gap between the masonry and the window is filled with PU foam. Then trim pieces are glued onto the cut foam as a finish. Does this procedure comply with RAL installation? I tried to research online and usually only see references to vapor-permeable or vapor-tight sealing tapes for the finishing seal...
Thank you very much!

Isn't it common to have cover strips since the gap between the window and the wall is filled with PU foam? Isn't that completely normal? Since PU foam is sprayed between the window and the wall, there must be a small gap, otherwise it wouldn't be possible, right?! Or am I mistaken?

Aren’t these cover strips always installed since the space between window and wall is filled with PU foam?In renovations without renewing the interior plaster, yes.https://www.instagram.com/11antgmxde/
