blaupumaHello,
After a lot of back and forth, it looks like we are now moving away from a ventilation system (central and decentralized).
Mainly, my wife does not want one.
Our plumbing specialist has now recommended basic ventilation, such as window frame ventilation.
Does anyone have this and can share real experiences?
Regarding sound insulation, for example:
My wife spends a lot of time at home and loves to ventilate frequently.
But even without ventilation, there would be no mold, only the air would feel stuffier, he says.
I’m hoping for good information.
I would prefer experiences from people without a ventilation system. I understand that the living comfort might be lower.

If the woman is home a lot and likes to ventilate, for heaven’s sake, don’t let yourselves get stressed out.
You don’t need anything, definitely not trickle vents in the window frames.
We have a central ventilation system because we both work full time and don’t want to open and close all the windows every morning and evening.
Also, I love having peace and fresh air in the bedroom.

We have also had a window rebate ventilation system for 5 years. We do a full cross-ventilation every morning.
Upstairs, the bedrooms are briefly aired again in the evening, and the bathroom is ventilated right after showering as usual. For the ground floor, the daytime opening of the front and patio doors is sufficient for us. In the first 1-2 years, we also aired out thoroughly again in the evening. So far, there have been no issues with mold or high humidity levels.
The only time indoor humidity rises somewhat is in autumn, when outdoor moisture is also high, and ventilation inevitably increases the indoor levels a bit.
It is important, especially during the first years, that the walls are able to breathe. So, avoid placing furniture directly against the walls, and with large pictures, we initially waited or made sure to ventilate behind the existing pictures regularly.
