Hey community,
I’m looking for a way to better insulate my windows.
I have blinds, but they don’t seem to help at all. Heater set to 4 and still freezing cold inside the apartment.
Do you know of any window insulation privacy screens? 😀
Thanks for the help!

Laying Styrofoam insulation (!!on the outside!!).... alternatively, move out / sue the landlord / turn the heating up to 5...

Anything else would be considered structural alterations.

Hello,
your blinds do not insulate your window.
What is the overall situation? Windows? Heating? Walls? Heat demand calculation? ...
And: What do you want to achieve?

I want to make sure that the heater also warms the entire room at setting 2. The heater glows, but the room stays cold. This is an older apartment. I just read that blinds are very effective at night, but they won’t help me during the day in the upcoming winter.

Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with this either. Have you checked whether the windows might not be sealing properly? Open the window, place a sheet of paper against the frame, and then close the window. If you can pull the paper out easily without resistance, there is room for improvement. The same applies to the front door and interior doors. If there is draft coming through everywhere, a lot of heat is lost. Check the gap between the door leaf and the threshold; in older buildings, there can sometimes be a gap of 1–2 cm (0.4–0.8 inches).

You have an old, poorly insulated house with old, poorly insulated windows. Roller shutters are certainly better than nothing but do not provide insulation or airtightness.
What you want cannot be achieved without structural measures.
