Hello

We are about to finalize a contract with a well-known construction management company. We are deciding between double-glazed or triple-glazed windows. Since we are considering window muntins (grilles), we were advised to choose double glazing because the muntins reduce the thermal performance (U-value) of triple glazing, and the extra cost for triple glazing is not financially worthwhile.

Do you have any tips, advice, or opinions?

Thank you

well, I would diplomatically call that a "break in style"

Maybe that’s why I’m actively looking for factual information regarding the U-value.
But there are also some nice examples.

applied muntin + 0.0
muntin in the insulating glass spacer 0.1–0.2
glass dividing bar + 0.4

Urban villa – white – divided windows: I consider this a matter of “a magic triangle” in terms of taste, meaning you can only ever achieve two of these elements at the same time.

There are also city villas, in the country house style.

However, I consider anthracite gray windows with muntins in single-family or residential houses to be highly questionable. If someone were to implement that for the homeowner, they would have failed in their profession. Bars on windows are meant for prisoners, and dark muntins next to a white wall will look exactly like that.
