Hello,
which window suppliers (including online-only retailers) have you had good experiences with regarding contact, value for money, delivery, complaints, etc.?
I know that the bigger challenge is finding someone who can properly install the windows... but I already have that covered. They have allowed me to purchase the windows myself.
So it’s purely about ordering and delivering around 15 uPVC windows and 3 lift-and-slide doors for a single-family house.
Thank you very much for your support and best regards from Upper Bavaria

Do you think I can tolerate questions about completely unknown houses to the forum community like sour beer?
For example, here it is even about a house without a door:
But of course, I can also say this: Lift-and-slide plastic windows can be done, as long as we are talking about overall widths from 250 to 350cm (98 to 138 inches); wider than that, better choose aluminum, and narrower, better keep lift-and-slide.
A problematic keyword – buying and installation handled by two different parties is not a good combination here.
So, now I have basically answered anyway, almost by invitation of a moderator. Frankly, I find the question smells too much like wanting to make the whole package fifty bucks cheaper, which I do not want to support. Thank you for your feedback, even though, like many of your posts, it hardly lacks cynicism. I am new to the forum, but this immediately stood out to me when reading the posts about window topics.
Believe it or not, our house will get a door too. But since my wife has very special requirements, our friend who is a carpenter is building it himself.
Now, about saving money... What exactly is wrong with wanting to save money when buying windows without compromising on quality? I work in the construction industry (specializing in building services engineering) and understand quite well how cost is calculated. If I can avoid a middleman who does nothing but add their margin, that has nothing to do with “making it fifty bucks cheaper.” That is why my question was about whether anyone has had good experiences with suppliers. Honestly, I don’t understand why someone would need to explain their entire house project when asking such a question...
I am well aware that a warranty conflict can occur here. However, I consider the risk manageable when working with a good installer.
Thanks also for the tip regarding the maximum width of plastic lift-and-slide doors, and best regards,
MS

As with many of your posts, it’s hard to top the cynicism. Unfortunately, the inability to distinguish between satirical exaggeration and cynicism is becoming more and more common :-(

And honestly, I don’t understand why you would explain your entire house project for a question like this... Simply because we can’t read your mind, and mentioning windows only by quantity is too vague.

I’ve only recently joined the forum, but this immediately stood out to me when reading the window-related posts. It should have been immediately clear that the more qualified the comments, the better the participants understand the fundamentals in detail.

Note regarding the maximum width of PVC lift-and-slide doors I actually didn’t make such a note. With a classic “two-panel” setup, you can get almost twelve meters (nearly 40 feet) delivered—
the bottleneck would probably be finding weightlifters trained in synchronized handling for installing the glass. It’s definitely better to use aluminum starting at five meters (16 feet) total width, and with modern dark finishes even from three and a half meters (11.5 feet) onward.

Want to save money without compromising on quality? [...] And if I can avoid going through a middleman who just adds their margin on top, That won’t be possible without compromising on quality, because reputable manufacturers rely on value-added sales through knowledgeable specialist dealers. They don’t even supply end customers directly. Discount PVC works the other way around: it’s not the manufacturer cutting out the dealer, but the dealer having the products manufactured themselves.
