Yes, it depends on the type of room. We are planning a skylight above the bathroom door facing the hallway, and it will be approximately that size. I do think it will help with lighting the hallway. While you probably won’t be able to read a book by it, it will be enough to avoid being in the dark during the day.

It is common next to the door of the living room leading to the hallway, for example in apartments. Also above doors, yes. Nowadays, it is often used in interior bathrooms.

Looks great. Unfortunately, we didn’t think of that idea. We could have installed a skylight from the utility room to the hallway. But now it’s too late.
