ᐅ Poor Wi-Fi Coverage Despite Using a Range Extender – What Can Be Done?

Hello everyone,

We have a single-family home with two floors (built on a slope, ground floor + basement). Our router is located in the basement in the utility room. We have a Wi-Fi repeater in the hallway on the ground floor, but the signal is very poor. Our internet connection speed is 50,000 (50,000), so it should work fine. Our PCs and TVs are connected to the internet directly via Ethernet cables and don’t rely on Wi-Fi. However, Wi-Fi coverage for phones and tablets on the ground floor is weak.

Can anyone recommend a repeater that offers better performance? Currently, we are using the TP Link RE 450 AC 1750.

There must be good options that can be connected to the internet via Ethernet cable and then broadcast Wi-Fi. I haven’t found any yet, but such devices must exist, right?

Thanks in advance,
Best regards

I can't check it myself, but you can find, for example, the following suggested solution if you use your preferred search engine:

Thanks, I had already found that too, but this option doesn’t appear anywhere... :/

Strange. I just tested it here in the office using the controller, and I do see this option. When I select it, I am then able to choose the 2D mode and draw walls. (Controller version 5.11.46)

Modal to add floor plan; Designer mode selected.

We have the Speedport Smart.
Can it do something like that too?
It is rented.

Have the latest Smart 3 (it should be indicated on the packaging) sent to you if you have the 1 or 2 version. It only works with the Smart 3.
I sell this combination almost daily, and as already mentioned, it works great when the devices are powered via LAN!
Ubiquiti is excellent but needs a different setup. We also use 3 Ubiquiti devices in our house.

Since I had the controller software installed on my PC in the office before, which was always a bit annoying, I moved the installation to my NAS and also updated it from version 5.5.24 to the latest version 5.12.35.

Now the options appear for me.

We have a FritzBox 7490, which is not sufficient for the whole house, especially not through 20cm (8 inches) concrete ceilings.
I added a Ubiquiti access point, which works quite well.

Hey, we now have a FritzBox 7590 with a compatible repeater, works great! Finally good Wi-Fi throughout the house.

Is it running as a repeater or access point connected to the LAN?
