Hello everyone,

I wonder why assembling Malm furniture can sometimes be so complicated. The instructions are included, but they are often unclear and some steps are quite confusing. Also, the parts don’t always seem to fit perfectly, which can make the assembly a real test of patience, especially for less experienced people.

Does anyone have experience or tips on why this happens? Is it due to the furniture design, the included tools, or something else?

I would like to understand why there are so many reports of difficulties, even though the furniture is actually quite popular.

I would like to add a point that is often overlooked but especially relevant for the Malm:

The surface you build on makes a difference.

When working on a hard floor, light scratches can occur, which is obviously frustrating. It is also advisable not to place the furniture piece on the side you need to assemble while screws still need to be inserted. This helps prevent misalignment.

Using a blanket or cardboard as an underlay can help – even though it sounds simple, it contributes to a smoother and more successful build.

I would like to summarize why assembling the Malm can sometimes seem complicated:

- Minimalist, image-heavy instructions without sufficient explanation of individual steps
- Similar components making it difficult to keep track
- Limited range of tools
- Fits that can vary due to tolerances
- Assembly sequence that should be followed very precisely

Anyone who keeps these points in mind, organizes, checks carefully, remains patient, and asks for help if needed will find the process much easier.

Sometimes it’s also a matter of mindset when building furniture – with a clear plan and a bit of calmness, challenges become manageable. 🙂

I think that’s very well put. It really helps to persevere and not get discouraged right away, even when something doesn’t fit. Thanks for the motivating words!
