ᐅ Why do some BILLY doors squeak on a daily basis?

I have a question that has been on my mind for some time: Why do some Billy doors squeak almost daily, even though the furniture piece is otherwise in perfect condition? I’ve noticed that the noise mostly happens when opening and closing, and unfortunately does not go away over time. My guess is that it has to do with the hinges, possibly material friction or some wear and tear. However, I clearly lack the technical understanding to identify the exact cause. Perhaps there is a general design weakness behind the problem. Has anyone experienced this or can explain which mechanisms in BILLY furniture cause the squeaking and, most importantly, how to permanently eliminate it?

I even bet that some customers barely notice the squeaking at first,

I can understand that, but often it’s also a sign of untreated mechanical friction. With simple maintenance tips, many surprises can be prevented without having to replace the furniture.

Exactly, focused and gentle handling also extends the lifespan of the hinges.

I always recommend a combination of regular cleaning and professional lubrication. Those who follow this can eliminate almost all squeaking issues with BILLY doors without costly replacement parts.

In summary: Squeaking is annoying but not an unavoidable fate for BILLY, if you act correctly and regularly. Hope this helps!
