Hello everyone,
Lately, I've noticed that the IKEA Malm nightstands often start to wobble, which honestly is quite annoying. I'm wondering what the typical causes for this are. Is it due to the design, the workmanship, or more related to the assembly?
I'm especially interested in whether the wobbling is a common characteristic of these pieces of furniture or if it mostly results from user errors or mistakes during setup.
Can someone explain the mechanics behind why the Malm series is so often affected and what can be done to prevent or reduce the wobbling?
Thanks in advance for any helpful responses!

Great that you achieved an improvement!
This approach is exactly right. In the end, it is usually a combination of small adjustment screws that are overlooked and adapting to the existing floor surface.
If problems still occur, it is also worth inspecting for loose anchors or cam locks. These can sometimes be hard to spot but can significantly increase wobbling.
In general: regular checks extend the lifespan and ensure lasting stability.

Quick update from me: Yesterday I checked all the screws and tightened them in a cross pattern, then attached felt pads under the legs.
