Hello everyone, I noticed that the drawers in my Malm dresser project keep sticking despite seemingly correct assembly. The drawer slides are properly installed, all screws are tight, yet the drawers don’t open and close smoothly – they often catch, and you have to use quite a bit of force. This puzzles me because I followed the instructions exactly, all the drill holes are correctly spaced, and the front is aligned straight. Does anyone have an idea what else could be causing this? Is there a common issue with Malm drawers that is easily overlooked, or any specific tips on how to permanently eliminate the grinding or sticking? I look forward to your experiences and suggestions.
A precise adjustment of the front panel is essential. The Malm drawers are equipped with clamps that allow adjustment in horizontal, vertical, and depth directions. This often involves turning small screws on the back of the front panel. This frequently resolves sticking issues, as the front then fits against the carcass wood without pressure. Additionally, the front should not be misaligned, as this can block the sliding rail mechanism. My advice: take a quiet moment, gently loosen the front panel, carefully adjust bit by bit, and test the drawer in between.
Additionally, I would like to point out that the strain caused by overfilled drawers as a reason for sticking is often underestimated. Since MALM systems have standardized tolerances, uneven loading (e.g., heavy items placed at the front) increases friction. The solution is to distribute the load as evenly as possible and avoid placing heavy items only in one corner.

Hey! The tips here are really great, I'm really happy about that! 🙂 I had the same problem, and what helped me a lot was adjusting the front a bit more precisely and lubricating the sliding rails with silicone spray. Since then, they glide like butter! 🙂 So don't get discouraged, it's worth being patient – the result is amazing.
