Hello everyone, I have a somewhat specific question: Why do MALM drawers sometimes stick?
I have noticed that the drawers of my MALM dresser occasionally get stuck or are difficult to open and close smoothly, even though I don’t overfill them or use them improperly. Especially when the drawers are open, the resistance feels unpleasant and uneven at a certain point.
Could this be related to the drawer slide system or the build quality? Maybe the material or installation is also a factor? I would like to understand better what causes this before I consider any major modifications or repairs.
I look forward to your experiences and technical explanations regarding this issue. Thank you!

Yes, the alignment during installation is really crucial. If the drawer is crooked, it changes the running angle of the slides.
This indicates an unstable base installation, which then affects the drawers. The screws must be evenly tightened and secure. Unfortunately, long screws can sometimes loosen slightly due to movements when opening and closing the drawers.
Even if the slides are clean, only the correct adjustment during installation will help. Sometimes a drop of lubrication oil on the ball bearings can reduce friction.

Hey everyone, great to see so much helpful feedback here! 🙂
I had the same issue a few months ago, and after checking the screws and making sure everything was balanced, the drawer worked perfectly again! It’s really a small detail that’s easy to overlook, but the difference is huge!
The tip about the lubricant is also excellent – I used a special silicone spray, and it worked really well!
Wishing you good luck, it will definitely work!

Also, always check if the guide rails are bent. Replacement may be necessary if there is significant damage.
