ᐅ Why are most urban villas built with a square floor plan?

Hello,

is there actually a reason why 95% of the planned villas here have a square floor plan? Does that make the roof easier to build?

Personally, I like a hip roof, but on the other hand, not a square house...

@Knallkörper

Is it possible to view the floor plan somewhere? It sounds very interesting, but I couldn’t find anything quickly.

I have an older floor plan here, unfortunately with the spot lighting layout, making it a bit unclear. The kitchen and furniture were just roughly placed by the architect.

I like it. Do you perhaps have an exterior view?

Hello,

I have at least two views. At the moment, we are still waiting for revised drawings. The roof overhangs are not quite right yet, and we also have a few Velux windows in the attic, which is used as storage.

View of the west and south sides of a two-story brick house with garage.

An example that clearly shows how designing in a longer layout works better. You can also see from the exterior view that wide windows don’t have to be squeezed into a narrow space.

Stairs fit better than in a square layout (not shown here), and it offers more flexibility in the living area. (Whereas with a square footprint, you usually have to shift things in both directions.)

Best regards in brief

I am also a bit nervous about the lovely square…
