Hello,
Floor Plan

I am currently thinking about correctly drawing the floor plan that I want to commission now. However, I am not entirely sure...
I have considered and incorporated several points, and I would be interested to hear how others evaluate the floor plan.
This is a plan for a single-person household.
Thank you for your tips and suggestions.
For now, I have avoided explaining my reasons for this or that, but I am willing to share everything.

I would start completely from scratch. Is that about a seven-meter (23 feet) long kitchen island? What is the idea behind that? It doesn’t seem very practical to unload dishes from the dishwasher there 🙂.
The toilet right next to the kitchen? The bedroom bed visible directly from the living room when the door is open? The bedroom door hitting the bathroom door? As I said, I would redesign it all.
Regards
Sabine

First of all, the exterior walls are drawn far too thin. Unless the house can be extended outward, realistic wall thicknesses of 36 - 48 cm (14 - 19 inches) will make all of this impractical anyway.
A kitchen sink with only a tiny window behind it is also a no-go.
Entering the living room with a direct view of the monitor wall on the desk is not my preference either.
Bathroom: a sink in the corner?!?
There must have been some very specific secret considerations behind that...
It would make more sense to complete the guideline pinned above here.

Okay, first I will address the points and then provide the guide.
@Curly
The kitchen peninsula is 3.5m (11.5 ft) long, with 1.5m (5 ft) of it raised so I can eat there with bar stools. I won’t have a dishwasher.
The toilet next to the kitchen is okay, I need to think about that. But I definitely want direct access from the living room and the bedroom to the bathroom. Since it will be an open plan living room with kitchen, it probably can’t be avoided. But I will think about it, thanks.
I will change the doors so they don’t touch each other.
I don’t see a reason to redesign right now, but thanks for the info.
@Otus11
Here’s another picture of the window by the kitchen, do you really find it that small?
The sink in the bathroom corner is actually a urinal 🙂 Unfortunately, the software didn’t have one, so I had to use a sink instead.
I am thinking about the entrance to the living room with the view of the monitors.
I will adjust the wall thickness.
Thanks
Now, the guide
Development plan/restrictions: None
Plot size: 2000 sqm (21528 sq ft)
Slope: very slight, facing north
Site coverage ratio: space for two houses
Floor area ratio: ?
Building envelope, building line and boundary
Edge development
Number of parking spaces
Number of floors: 1
Roof style: hipped roof
Architectural style
Orientation: terrace faces south
Maximum height/limitations: not relevant
Client requirements
Architectural style, roof style, building type
Basement, floors: no basement, 1 floor
Number of occupants, age: 1; 41 years
Space requirements on ground floor and upper floor: 80-110 sqm (860-1185 sq ft)
Office: family use or home office? For me
Overnight guests per year: none
Open or closed architecture:
Conservative or modern design: no budget for fancy features, otherwise I would build organically
Open kitchen, kitchen island: Open kitchen probably U-shaped
Number of dining seats: none or 1
Fireplace: might add a fireplace but it won’t be built initially
Music/sound wall: no
Balcony, roof terrace: no
Garage, carport: not initially
Utility garden, greenhouse: not initially
Other wishes/special features/daily routine, also reasons why something should or should not be included
House design
Who made the plan: by me
- Builder’s planner
- Architect
- Do-it-yourself
What do you especially like? Why? Important: bed not facing the street; living room not visible from the street; terrace must be well sheltered from the wind; house by the North Sea
So, some points filled out.

to properly draft the floor plan I want to commission now.... I basically think that’s a bad idea: having a professional drawing made costs money, regardless of how useful the drawing may be later. That’s why I would stick to a sketch level during the initial planning discussions. It doesn’t take long until you reach version 23a before you’re satisfied with the plan.
Therefore, I don’t agree with the moderator’s criticism regarding wall thickness, because at such an early stage of planning I wouldn’t even "draw in" those details yet. First, arrange and discuss room allocations, then roughly check areas, and only later "calculate" whether the total sizes fit with distances and wall thicknesses. Before that, in my opinion, it’s enough to add about 1 meter (3 feet) to the house’s width and depth: if between 36.5 cm (14 inches) exterior walls there is a load-bearing and a non-load-bearing wall, the total length including plaster adds up to about 1.20 m (4 feet).

Floor area ratio: ?By urinal, you probably mean a urinal – yes, there is rarely a symbol for that in design software.
The site coverage ratio (Grundflächenzahl) is given as a decimal and indicates how much area can be built on (e.g., a 500 m² (5382 ft²) plot with a site coverage ratio of 0.2 allows a maximum ground floor area of 100 m² (1076 ft²)). The floor area ratio (Geschossflächenzahl) is basically the same concept but applies to the total floor area across all stories: if the site coverage ratio of 0.2 is fully used, and the floor area ratio is 0.3, then the upper floor can only cover half the ground floor area, simplified. Each figure represents a maximum value on its own; if you choose not to build an upper floor (where permitted), the ground floor still cannot exceed the maximum allowed by the site coverage ratio.
