Hello everyone, I’m currently facing the task of assembling my new Ikea Brimnes chest of drawers and noticed while going through the instructions that it is a bit more challenging than I expected. I’m wondering if any of you have tried-and-true tips or tricks that make the assembly easier and help avoid mistakes. In particular, I’m interested in advice on the best way to sort the parts or the order in which to assemble them to save frustration and time. Maybe there are also recommendations on the use of certain tools or common pitfalls to watch out for in advance. So, who among you has experience with self-assembling the Ikea BRIMNES and can offer useful hints?

The instructions from Ikea are well made, but sometimes the pictures can be confusing. Thanks for the tip! Assembling the drawers separately definitely sounds sensible. Have you had any experience with the best way to install the back panels without making the dresser unstable? I noticed it sometimes seems to require a lot of force, and improper fixing could possibly damage the entire unit.
The back panels on the Brimnes are a bit tricky, yes. My tip: always install them last and apply even pressure from bottom to top. Avoid using excessive force and carefully check the alignment beforehand. Often, when hammering in the nails or staples with a small hammer, it’s better to position them at the edge—not flat in the middle, but slightly angled along the edge. This helps prevent chipping and maintains stability.

The back panels on the BRIMNES are a bit tricky, yes. Absolutely! Think of the back panel like the skin of a large instrument. When it fits properly, it provides the support and stability—so it’s important to handle it gently but firmly. For me, having some relaxed music playing in the background always helps—it makes the assembly much more laid-back 😉.
