ᐅ Who can help with mold issues?

Hi,

There is mold forming behind the entrance door of my apartment (outside corner).

I would like to have a professional take a look at it to advise me on how to remove it and, more importantly, where it is coming from.

Can someone tell me what to look for when searching for someone who can do this?

This is likely due to insufficient heating and ventilation in the room, as the dew point is probably reached quite quickly because of the exterior corner.

Yellow Pages -> Building biologist – call there and ask.
For a small area, no one will come; take a photo with measurements from the corner, take a sample, and send it in.
I believe you can also buy test kits and perform the test yourself. Just google "mold test."

More important than determining who can professionally remove the mold is investigating why the mold developed in the first place. Without addressing the underlying structural or building physics cause, mold will continue to reoccur in that area. I recommend hiring a building damage assessor, preferably an architect or structural engineer, to carry out this task. Everything else is merely cosmetic.

However, this doesn’t indicate where the mold is actually being fed from; in this respect, Will is right 😉
